Interview With Tom Holmes - the National Front Chairman

A Statement from Tom Holmes, National Front Chairman.

I am 76 years old and have been Chairman of the National Front for the last seven years after three years as deputy chairman. I have been a member of the party since July 1967 making me one of the longest serving members. I have stood for election in local elections in my hometown of Great Yarmouth, at Borough council and county council level. Recently I have contested Nelson Ward in Yarmouth. In 2004 I received 378 votes, 19% of the vote. In 2006 in the same ward I received 345 votes, 26% against Labour and Tory opponents.

I have also contested several parliamentary seats, Great Yarmouth in 1979 achieving 640 votes. I have also stood for the NF in Margate and Halifax. Following leafleting in my ward in 2006 I was arrested and charged with racial harassment. After four court appearances, having opted for trial by jury I was convicted by a 10 to 2 majority and later sentenced to tagging and a six month curfew from 10 in the morning till ten at night Saturday and Sunday! I pleaded innocent and still declare my innocence of the alleged offence. I am a pensioner with no previous convictions and 40 years membership of the NF, and any person who knows me will testify that I would not behave in the way I was alleged.

Such is the state of present day Britain where immigrants automatically are given precedence over indigenous peoples. One good thing came from my trial, the judge stated it was not illegal to be 'racist' (racial nationalist) and no offence to tell an immigrant/ Asylum seeker/foreigner etc etc that if they do not like the way we do things in this country, they should go back to their country of origin!

The publicity generated by my trial was purely of a local nature nothing in the national or on nationwide TV. I had a good deal of support from NF members who took time off work and travelled considerable distances. My special thanks to Terry Blackham who organised the protests on my behalf. This false conviction has not and will not deter me in my belief of white racial nationalism. With the support of my wife and fellow NF members I will hopefully represent the NF once again in the forthcoming local elections in May. I sincerely believe that the National Front is the best vehicle to achieve what all-true White Nationalists desire, a return to an all white Britain and Europe.

Tom Holmes an inspirational figure many in our ranks are not familiar with, a man who has fought for this country all his life and never given in, and in these days of throwaway society with no pride, respect or dignity in itself is a man to look to and learn from.

All at 28, no matter which party or movement they belong, salute a man of his word, courage and true fighter in the defence of our people! Many thanks Tom Holmes, for all you have given.

1) When and why did you first realise something was going tragically wrong with our country?

In the 1950's with beginning of large-scale coloured immigration. The Notting Hill and Nottingham Race riots by white youths and the savage gaol sentences against them.

2) What allured you to the NF, at a time in the sixties when there were other major right wing patriotic parties about, could you name and describe some of these for us?

I joined the NF in July 1947 in its first year (formed 7 Feb 1947) I had previously joined the White Defence League in late 1958, formed by Colin Jordan. The WDL later joined with the National Labour Party (John Bean) and formed the (as far as I am aware) first British National Party. Colin Jordan later left and formed the National Socialist Movement (later British Movement).

The BNP joined with the Racial Preservation Society and the League of Empire Loyalists to become the National Front. Meanwhile John Tyndall had left Jordan started Greater Britain Movement, later disbanded and members joining the NF.

At this time Union Movement (Oswald Mosley) was still going strong but this was an entirely different organisation.

So you see there was really no alternative as the NF was the only viable Nationalist party.

3) How has the political landscape changed during your time in politics, and would you agree with the statement, "today's politicians are just career politicians out for themselves with no pride or dignity just interested in shameless self promotion" or has this always been the case?

The political landscape has changed insofar as the Lib/Lab/Con are identical in all their main policies. i.e. immigration.

At one time many Tories, including even a few MPs still had a pride in being white and British. On the whole though your assumption is correct, career politicians as the name implies are out for themselves with a big pension at the end of it.

4) The NF has seen has an upsurge in activity and interest in the past few years after a period of decline, what changes do you think have brought this welcome rebirth to fruition?

The NF is I believe on the up after many splits and upsets I believe the reason for this is NO CHANGE to our core aims and values. Our main policy is still Stop Immigration, Start Repatriation. We say Britain must remain a white country.

This is unlike the views of some psuedo Nationalist parties who even accept coloureds as members. The NF will not accept coloureds, homosexuals of either sex or illegal drug abusers as members. This is clearly laid out in our letter to potential members.

5) What would you say to our readers who are not yet a member of a political party, to attract them to the NF?

If you wish to belong to a racial nationalist party which has abandoned its ideals and never will, then the NF is for you.

6) What are your views on the massive influx of foreigners from Eastern Europe currently swamping our nation, as many Nationalists in Britain are currently facing the dilemma that although they are white that they don't want them here either, an invasion is an invasion so to say?

Our views on European immigrants are that this country is over populated. Although Europeans are preferable to coloureds we just do not need more immigration. These Poles, Balts whatever are needed in their own countries. After all they are only a source of cheap labour over here.

7) After sadly witnessing years of National decline, we are now seeing an upsurge in Nationalist sentiment throughout our people, do you think we can still reverse the tide and reclaim our land?

It's never too late to win our country back, although most people are apathetic and content to moan in front of the TV set. These are the people we must reach.

8) Are there any periods in your time in the Front when you think major mistakes were made that held back and disrupted the fronts growth, have we learned from these and do you suspect State interference?

There have been many mistakes in history of the NF and there will probably be more. There have been State agents, clash of personalities etc. etc. However in my opinion the worst and most shameful period for the NF was the Martin Webster affair.

This highlights the mistake of allowing homosexuals as members. Speaking from a Norfolk point of view this was the worst split in the NF's history.

9) During your long career in Nationalist politics, who or which figures did you find inspired you personally the most and for what reasons or attributes?

My first inklings of British Nationalism was reading of Oswald Mosley in a magazine of the 1940's, Picture Post.

I have met most of the late departed and current Nationalist leaders. Colin Jordan, John Bean, Anderson, Wingfield, Griffin.

For me two of the most praiseworthy were the late John Tyndall and the late Andrew Fountaine. Two of the best public speakers in the country, mostly without notes. Both in their own way completely sincere. Fountaine a Norfolk landowner could have led a comfortable life on his large estate. Instead he became embroiled in the rough and tumble of early Nationalist politics I have been on many marches with him and he would travel miles to attend our Branch meetings. He was the first to use the name National Front in the early 1950's.

John Tyndall, a splendid orator and writer, he kept Spearhead going for Forty years, an achievement in itself.

10) While Blood and Honour is undoubtedly National Socialist in its core belief and support and the NF is Racial Nationalist, do you still think B&H has an important part to play in the defence and reclamation of our nation?

As you say our approach to the malaise that affects our country differs in some ways. You reach many of the young whites worldwide. These need to be converted to active Nationalists.

There is room for both ways to White Nationalism but we need more young people to take an active role.

11) Any last words of advice or inspiration to our readership?

My days are nearly done but our young people must keep fighting. There are many good young people coming through, they must be supported to achieve our final victory.
